Enjoy this lengthy review for an online internet outdoor furniture company. I hope it helps someone else who is debating.
I was looking for an outdoor sofa for my covered front porch. I was looking for a quality purchase, not a disposable piece. I’m not a wicker fan and knew I wanted a solid teak frame for look and durability/quality. This left me with very few options, most pretty costly and none viewable at local stores. My front porch receives direct sunlight in the morning so I knew I wanted sturdy sunbrella fabric ideally.
After a ton of googling and looking at stores, big box websites, furniture stores online, wayfair, etc etc the one I kept coming back to for look and described quality was from a newish company called Neighbor based in Az, lead by the same people who started one of the internet mattress start ups.
I was hesitant thinking it just might be an influencer type product and not worth the value but nothing else was close to what I wanted in looks.
I ordered their fabric swatches and had super good customer service. A non pushy sales/design person emailed me and answered several back and forth questions without pushing.
They had a pretty good return policy with a 15 percent restocking fee for up to 45 days so I hit the bullet.
I ordered late January. I was quoted 8-12 weeks but I actually received it in about 6 weeks. I paid full price at 2800 but did a promotion where I got a cover for free.
Instructions were easy to understand and I was able to do all but the last few steps by my self before my husband was able to help.
-The sofa looks great. It’s got a modern attractive style that many of the teak furniture websites did not have
It feels solid. No wobbles. Seems well constructed
The cushions are a bit firm but that’s ok and they’ve softened up in the last 3 months
Fabric feels heavy and good quality. It’s easy to brush off dirt and clean spots of dirt from shoes, cats, etc. (they are machine washable and air dryable but I have not washed them yet) I can’t speak to waterproof as my porch is covered and only gets damp in heavy storms for which I put in the cover. Handles regular Dewey mornings well tho.
I have the regular sofa which is a good size. Its deep enough I can sit cross legged with my feet up. 4 people can fit comfortably although the 3 cushions means 4 results in that kind of in the crack feel.
per discussion with the customer service rep, I can add another single middle seat to make a 4 seat later if I want. They’re slightly modular. They also got a ton of arrangements available
It was pricey, but I hope that doesn’t end up being a con. If it lasts like I want/hope then it’ll be worth it. I think it will.
No ready to ship options, you have to be patient
The couch cushions slide. There’s no Velcro or strings or anything to hold them in place. This was by far the most common con on their website reviews and it’s true. The seat cushions slide forward allowing the back cushions to then slide down. It’s not too much of a hassle to fix them but it is a thing after every sit that is not super gentle sitting upright gently. I keep meaning to buy some grippy cabinet liner to see if that helps
Cover is not included. It is $200. I did a winter promotion where one was included for free which is good because I don’t know if I could convince myself to buy one otherwise. It’s a nice cover, custom fit, buckles at legs, heavy and water proof, worked very well in the few storms we’ve had. Even sat on the couch right after.
Overall I’m glad I made the purchase. Only time will tell if it’s truly a quality piece made to last but I’m feeling really hopeful.
