The one thing you don’t want anywhere near your furniture is acetone/nail polish remover. It eats virtually every finish ever used on any piece of furniture ever besides glass.
There isn’t any magic fix for that, I’m afraid, and while you might be able to make it less obvious with some touch-up, A little dark walnut stain might help. it’s going to be really noticeable unless the whole area is refinished.
I think you’re just going to have to fess up, and pay a pro. The good news is it’s pine, so a little distressing worked in won’t look bad, and the softwood easy to work with.
