DJ Of The Week: DJ AVI D!
Dj Avi D Tearin It Up At The World Famous ‘PlayHouse’ HollyWood, CA
“EveryOne Wants To Be The DJ”
But few achieve the privilege of living the true jetsetting lifestyle of the World’s Top DJ’s.
Dj Avi D started dj-ing at the tender age of 13! Tagging along with his older brother at local Jewish events like Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, he started to harness his craft as a Dj.
At the age of 14, Dj Avi D met ‘Infected Mushroom’ at club Avalon in Hollywood, CA.
It was in that moment he fully realized his dream: to be a top DJ.
By the time Dj Avi was 18 years old he was promoting, financing and running his own RAVES.
This taught him the importance of good business and how to brand his own name.
Club owners are mostly concerned with how many bottles and tables they sell, not your hard hitting house beats!
In an exclusive Interview with Disco Treats we asked Dj Avi D about where he thought Electronic Dance Music is heading.
Dj Avi D pointed out the similarities between today’s 2010 pop culture and the hippies of the ’70′s. Dj Avi D pointed out how our Raves today, are essentially the Woodstock Festivals of past. Psychedelic drug use, free love, peace, along with unlimited self expression are common themes at raves and massives now!
Dj Avi D shared with us his top 3 raves that every person should attend at least once in their life. The first being the Ultra Music Festival in Miami held during Winter Music Conference. Followed by White Sensation in Amsterdam, but nothing compares to the underground raves in Los Angeles. These warehouse raves start at 3am and usually last until 10m am the next day!!!
Dj Avi D said that Ibiza is the one place he hasn’t been to yet, but would love to hit up. DJing at Space is a definite goal. In Vegas, Dj Avi D’s top pool party pick to DJ is of course Wet Republic… Hey we love that place too!
Seeing Deadmau5 preform live is also on the list of things to do; his fav song by Deadmau5 is “Reward Is More Cheese”. That song always keeps the crowd happy!
Dj Avi D gave us some advice too… If you really to be a DJ, and lets be honest who doesnt? You have to make a few sacrafices… other than hard work, and talent, he reccomends working for free a few times, set goals, be consistent, and learn to network. DJ’s now are expected to bring people into clubs and keep them dancing (and Drinking) all night!!
Dj Avi D left us with his favorite from Sublime:
“Life is too short,
so love the one you got,
cuz you might get run over,
or you might get shot”
